Parent update 12 February 2021

12 February 2021

Dear Parents and Carers

Although only 6 weeks, it has felt both a long and challenging half term.

Thank you for working with us throughout this time. We have most staff back now, but a small number are still recovering from Covid.

I hope you and your child enjoyed doing the 100 challenge - Mrs Stelmaszczyk is kindly organising a presentation of the photos etc for this.

We do not know what will happen next term, until the Government makes an announcement about schools, so certainly for the first two weeks back, we will be carrying on as we have been.

Whatever the announcement, our Leadership Team will need time to work through this into plans for Thornbury, but be assured that as soon as we can give you a definite plan, we will do.

Half Term Holiday

Over half term, we are not setting any online learning, as parents, staff and children all need a well-earned break!

If your child has symptoms, or someone is tested positive, over the half term, please could you email admin to let us know asap as we might need to do some contact tracing. The admin box will be checked once a day over the week.

I am sure you will observe the social distancing guidance and contact rules over the half term, to help keep us all safe when we return.

Passwords - Important!
In our bid to ever increase the security of our online learning provision,  over the half term break the pupils accounts will all have their passwords changed to be unique for each user. You will receive communication in the half term week with your child's new password. Please keep this safe and private. Your child's old password will stop working at some point during the half term week and thereafter. I'm sure you will understand this is a long process so do not email during the half term regarding access as we will not be able to respond. As I have mentioned before no work will be set that week, so please enjoy the break. New passwords will all be working by the first Monday back. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

After Half Term

We look forward to seeing our in-schoolers back in the week beginning Monday 22nd Feb, and seeing our home schoolers online. As a reminder - there are learning log-ins Monday to Thursday for anyone who needs further support with any of the learning tasks, (optional).

There are circle times (Pastoral sessions), for which your child has been allocated a specific day - we would like all full-time home-schoolers to attend these please, as it helps for everyone to stay connected, and will certainly help with transition back to school, whenever this takes place.

Free School Meal Term Time Vouchers

Free school meal voucher codes will go live on the Monday evening of the first Monday after half term. If you are being sent the voucher codes, children coming into school must bring a packed lunch.

I hope that you and your family stay safe over the half term.

Warm wishes
Mrs Hardisty
