Measles Information

Measles is a highly infectious disease, spreading quickly from person to person, especially in schools. A child with measles will infect almost all unprotected children they have contact with. Although we have high rates of vaccination in the UK, the levels dropped some years ago when the MMR vaccine was mistakenly associated with autism. This led to some mothers not getting their children vaccinated and so measles is now spreading rapidly among these children.

E - Safety

As a parent or carer it can be difficult to monitor what your child is up to online. Most parents and carers trust their children online, but it can be easy for a child to stumble across things that might upset or disturb them.

Filtering and moderation packages are a good way to stop the majority of inappropriate and harmful content coming into your home. They are a tool to help you set and change online boundaries in line with your child’s development.

There are some great packages out there, some are free and some come at a cost. Make sure you get one that suits your family’s needs and budget. For advice specifically for parents of primary aged children go to www.thinkuknow.co.uk/parents.

Mobile Phones

May we please remind you, that as part of our Safeguarding Policy, all mobile phones need to be switched off in school, and if you are doing anything more than a fleeting visit i.e. collecting your child from the Sunshine Club, they need to be handed in to the front office for safe keeping.
